Saundersfoot Sports Club (sponsored by LG Leisure Ltd) played away to the Waterloo Club in Hakin, on Monday evening, in the second leg of their Jimmy Allen quarter-final.

Saundersfoot were holding a useful 79-point lead after the first leg (two singles, two doubles, aggregate score) and ended up being 138-point winners overall.

The first singles saw Mark Cleevely play M. Hartley. Mark started well, opening up a small lead early on. He continued to pot good balls to be 40 points up by the colours and eventually went on to win by 61, to increase his team’s advantage to 140.

The second frame was the doubles of Wayne John and Darren Morgan against C. Hughes and S. Dalton. Wayne and Darren started cautiously, with their opponents potting well to be 28 points up mid-frame. By the colours, the Saundersfoot duo had fought back well to level the scores. It was still close by the pink, which Saundersfoot took, but Waterloo sank the final black to win by five points.

The second singles saw Martin Durham play R. Hughes. Martin started well with a 22-point break and by mid-frame was 30 up and still playing well. He continued to control the frame, eventually winning by 14, to put Saundersfoot 149 ahead.

The second doubles saw Glyn Davies and Dean Ludlow play D. Hughes and F. Fee. This was somewhat academic as Saundersfoot had already won the match. Although Dean and Glyn lost by 11 points, Saundersfoot were clear 138 victors overall.
