Saundersfoot Sports Club (sponsored by LG Leisure Ltd) played host to the British Legion Club from Milford Haven, in their final match of the season, and were 3-2 winners.
The first frame saw Dave Wooles play Steve Hartley. Dave started well, opening up a small lead, but back came his opponent to even things up straightaway. This frame looked as if it was going to be close. However, a couple of small breaks by the Saundersfoot man gave him a 35-point lead mid-frame and he continued to pot well, running out a comfortable winner in the end.
The second frame saw Martin Durham play D. Malloy. Martin was slow off the blocks, letting his opponent open up a big early lead. A decidedly out of sorts Martin started to get back into it by mid-frame, but the writing was already on the wall and he went on to lose convincingly.
The third frame saw Steve Barlow play R. Jones. Steve, not in the best form of late, started and finished well, potting some good balls and controlling the frame throughout, to win comfortably.
The fourth frame saw Darren Morgan play Gareth Barrett. Darren started slowly, but then got going. However, Gareth was in fine form and coming to the colours was 15 points up. Now with it all to do, Darren was struggling, but a small break on the colours seemed to give him hope, only for this to be extinguished as Gareth took blue and pink for victory.
The final frame saw Dean Ludlow play M. McCarthy. Not in fine form of late, Dean was in inspired mood on this occasion, potting well, coupled with good safety, and winning probably his best frame of the season.
NB: We would like to thank Eric and Lesley, from LG Leisure, for their kind sponsorship this year. Also everyone at the Observer for printing the reports.
