Pembrokeshire is currently helping a boxer in his bid to become a Commonwealth champion.
Leigh (Leighthal) Wood is a 30-year-old featherweight from Nottingham who has a good record of 20 wins, 10 by KO, and has been trying to break into the big time for the last four year.
Recently, Leigh was given the chance to box for the Commonwealth title on Saturday, March 2 at Peterborough Arena, a bout which will be televised live on Sky Sports
Leigh knows that these opportunities don’t come along everyday, so he decided to contact his old trainer Ian Grant from Elite Boxing (pictured on the right). Grant is now training out of the Pembrokeshire Powerlifting facility in Cresselly (owner Aaron Hosking, pictured left).
Over the past eight weeks, Elite Boxing coach Grant has been pushing Leigh to his limits at Pembrokeshire Powerlifting in preparation for the fight. Leigh believes staying in the county and training at the facility with Ian Grant and no distractions is key to lifting the belt and bringing home the Commonwealth title next month.
