The First and Last 'A' team continue to lead division one. Their huge 9-2 win at the home of last year's champions maintained their slender lead at the top. This was certainly a match where the score did not reflect how closely contested each game was. A full-strength Dolphin team could certainly consider that the match score should have been much closer.
Tenby House (previously Pembroke Conservative Club) are but two points behind, indeed they have yet to lose a match. The First and Last 'B' team certainly gave it their best shot in losing 8-3 to help their 'A' team stablemates as much as they could.
The Black Rabbit did not have a match this week, but continue to sit comfortably in third place, while there were big away wins for Alma 'A' and Club Martello, both continuing to consolidate their individual positions in their league.
In division two, it has become very much a two-horse race. There are now just three league matches left for the Watermans 'B' to try to close the six-point lead the Power Station have.
Third-placed Dolphin 'B' went down 6-5 at the Bush Tavern. This was an excellent performance from the home team, while the Alma 'B' also enjoyed a big win, this time 8-3, against the Watermans 'A'.
There have been number of 180s, continued to proof indeed of the standard of darts being thrown. Mal Hendry and Tim Barton, of the First and Last 'A', Karl Beynon and Dennis Phillips (who recorded 15 and 18 dart games), of Tenby House, Liam Bendell and Steve Walters (Dolphin B), Mike Newton (Dolphin 'A') and finally Dai Donohoe (Club Martello).
Checkouts include Dai Jones (Tenby House) 124, Dennis Phillips, also of Tenby House, 116 (60,16,40), Dai Lewis (Black Rabbit) 104 (treble 18, bull) to win his doubles match, Ian Broxton (Watermans 'A') 102 (five, treble 19, 40) and equally important, Terry 'Bullseye' Perkins, of the Dolphin 'B', 56 (16, 20, 10x) to win their respective 1001 competition matches.
Finally, pride of place must go to Liam Roberts, of the Black Rabbit. He opened the season with a 180 and has now thrown four such scores. Three of these come in two weeks before Christmas, which saw him winning singles games in 14 darts on two occasions.
If that was not enough, one such win was finished with the magical 170 checkout - treble 20, treble 20, bull. The stuff of dreams! All of this is happening on a dartboard near you! Very well done Liam.
