Pembroke Dock Bowling Club opened its bowling green on Saturday, with Mr. Brian Dowling, life member and member of PDBC for 44 years, rolling the coveted silver jack.
The tradition of rolling the silver jack has been carried out since 1925 when the bowling green in the Memorial Park, Pembroke Dock, was first opened.
In the photograph below Mr. Brian Dowling is seen being presented with the silver jack by the president of Pembroke Dock Bowling Club, Mr. Graham Bann.
Before proceedings commenced, the avenue leading to the bowling club was named the 'Les Davies Way'.
There was a minute's silence in remembrance of Mr. Leslie Davies, chairman of PDBC, whose dedication and sterling work over many years have helped make Pembroke Dock Bowling Club into the proud club it is today.
There was a splendid turn-out by Pembroke Dock Bowling Club members to watch the proceedings.
