Yet another Pembrokeshire athlete is on course for the GB Boccia squad.

Rachel Bailey from Narberth has been chosen to take part in phase 2 of the GB Boccia Fast Track Programme - designed to search for players ready to take on the world in Rio 2016.

The 28-year-old will travel to Sheffield shortly with another 24 players, from which 16 will be chosen for the next stage.

It is hoped that Rachel will then join her mid Pembrokeshire compatriot Jacob Thomas as another Pembrokeshire athlete in the Boccia GB squad.

Angela Miles, disability sports development officer for Sport Pembrokeshire - the sports development arm of Pembrokeshire County Council - said she was delighted that Rachel had been given the opportunity to progress.

"It's quite something that we have so many talented boccia players, who are marking their mark on the national and international stage," she said.

Rachel, who competes in the BC1 category, practices at the Bloomfield Centre, Narberth, on boccia courts provided by Princes Gate and Valero
