Both sides took a while to get into gear for this opening game of 2013, but it was Narberth's better shape and organisation which led to the first score.
Good work by the forwards sent the ball out to the back and slick hands from Seren Wyn Lloyd put Ifan Rees over the tryline.
St. Davids came back from the restart and applied a long period of pressure. Hard tackling by Dafydd Gibby eventually set up the fightback.
With the openside blocked, scrum-half Jordan James went blind and timed his pass perfectly for Griff Evans who still had plenty of yards to cover for the score.
With half-time approaching Kaleb Higgon went on a charge, good hands from Gibby and Harri Harries sent Rees over for his second.
There was still time before the whistle for Evans to take advantage of broken play and chalk up his second try.
Once again the Saints opened strongly with a period of sustained pressure which created a number of overlaps. And once again they were unlucky to come away without a score.
Wyn Lloyd added to Narberth's account, showing a clean pair of heels to the defence, while James again showed his electric solo skills for number six.
The Saints got their deserved score with a piece of strong, straight running from the forwards.
Narberth had the last word as play opened up in the final stages as a trademark jinking break by Harries set Rees free but still with plenty to do for his hat-trick.
Player of the match: Ifan Rees - 'for showing what happens if you run straight'.
