Although the top two teams won last week, there were constrasting ways of getting their wins. Kilgetty RAOB A racked up a whitewash over the Alpha A, while Station House A had to come from 4-1 down to beat the Greenbridge A.
Narberth RAOB A moved into third spot after they had a tough match against bottom team SSSC, taking four of the last five frames to win. The Dingle's chances of retaining the championship took a blow as they lost to the Dragon after being 3-1 up. Whitland Sports stay in fifth spot after beating the Bush Rob A away, while Station House B gained revenge over the Hean for their first half defeat.
The B League looks more like a three-way race at the moment, with leaders KSSC beating the Deck Bar well, Jeffreyston A just managed a win over the Wisemans A taking the last two doubles. While the Angel Llan also just won with a last frame victory at Wisemans B. Lawrenny Sports A lost ground, going down to another 5-4, this time at the Alpha B.
Matches at the lower end of the table saw Whitland Bowls beat the Eagle, while Cresselly dropped another place after losing at the Taf.
Unusual results in the C League as four of last week's top five all lost, with the biggest surprise seeing previous leaders Narberth RAOB B losing 7-2 at the Bush Llan. The Sporting Chance lost on the last frame to Kilgetty RAOB B, who now move into the top five, as the Ivy Bush lost at home to the Jeff B and the Snooty Fox also lost on the last frame at Lawrenny B (although a complaint was made of unfair play by one of the home players). As I wasn't there, I cannot comment if a foul was made or not. However, the chairman of the league was present and saw what he believed to be a foul, which was not called by the home referee. With this rule I can't proceed any further, as the referee's decision is final, whether it be the right one or not (case closed).
Other results saw the White Horse go two points clear at the top after beating the Bush Robeston B well, while the Greenbridge B gained another win as they beat the RFC well.
This Sunday sees the quarter-finals of the team knockout, with the following matches taking place: Greenbridge A v Ivy Bush; Lawrenny Sports B v Dingle; Station House A v Deck Bar. The Alpha A unfortunately have to wait for Narberth RAOB A and Kilgetty RAOB A to sort a date out to play their match.
