St. Clears went down to only their second defeat of the season on Saturday as first division Johnston beat them 4-2 in the fourth round of the Tony Nakonecznyj Insurance Brokers WWFA Intermediate Cup.
Given their superb form all season, this clash was always going to be a test of where they are, especially as the Saints play two divisions below the Tigers in the Pembrokeshire League.
Playing against a tough, physical side, it was always going to be a big ask for Craig Weston's men and despite goals by Dorian Davies and Ian Derbyshire, they only have the league title and third division cup to play for.
In league action, Narberth were given a fright at home to bottom placed Milford United as the first division's basement team only lost 4-3.
Despite their position, many pundits believe United are a decent side and they proved this with three superb goals against Peter Fearne's Bluebirds.
Fortunately, an own goal and a brace by Adi Jones helped calm matters, before an Ashley Williams strike secured the points for the home side.
The goals were raining in at Solva as Tenby slammed 12 past the hapless homesters in a 12-1 thrashing.
Callum Proctor led the way with four, with Darryl Mansbridge completing a hat-trick. Billy Vaughan scored twice, with Jordan Richards and Joe Worley scoring one apiece. Solva's misery was compounded late on when they conceded an own goal.
Carew couldn't make home advantage count as they went down 5-2 against West Dragons. James Buckle was on song yet again for Barry Evans's men, with Haydn Shapcott netting the other, but the visitors proved too strong on the day.
Better news for Saundersfoot, however, as they continued with their promotion march with a 3-0 win over Prendergast Villa. Dan Bates finished with a brace for the home team, while Nick Cope added a third.
Kilgetty's home game against Herbrandston was postponed due to a wet pitch and the same fate befell Pendine for their home clash against Manorbier United.
Narberth seconds travelled to Pembroke Boro and their 2-1 win still gives them an outside chance of promotion. Ryan Williams scored both goals for the visitors, who are now just four points behind the top two sides, although with just five games remaining and having played more than both St. Clears and Pennar Robins, a chance to play in division two next season is remote.
Tenby seconds' game at Broad Haven was postponed and so too was Lawrenny's home clash with Clarbeston Road's second team.
Carew seconds travelled to Pennar Robins and lost 2-1, with Matthew Phillips scoring for the visitors, while Saundersfoot Sports' seconds ensured it was a good day for them over Prendergast Villa as they raced to a 5-3 win.
Ashley Smith was on target again for St. Florence in their 5-0 win over Solva seconds, yet Rhys Winter was the hero as he finished with a hat-trick. Billy Conner scored the other as the Saints strolled home.
Lawrenny seconds travelled to Letterston and lost 4-1, while Manorbier's second team clash with West Dragons was postponed.
Kilgetty seconds travelled to Haverfordwest Cricket Club and came away with a 6-3 win. Mike Beynon and Jack Franklin scored two apiece for the visitors, with Josh Bevan and Tom Watkins grabbing the others.
St. Clears' seconds, meanwhile, entertained Neyland seconds and won 3-1. Simon Bancroft was at it again for the home side as he opened the scoring, but Aled Snelling was the hero of the day as his brace ensured the points stayed at home.
