Fourteen brave (or stupid!) souls took to the Haverfordwest GC fairways despite the un-May-like weather; luckily it was not cold (writes JJ). The group was divided into two threesomes and two foursomes.

In the first team were Steve Eleanor Rigby, Mark Woody Wood and Darrell Smoothy Jones. Steve, playing on his home course, came in with a good score, but Mark and Darrell performed below par, particularly Darrell - he must have had the vision of a wooden spoon looming. Maybe he was looking to have his handicap moving back into double figures!

Next off were Barry Chippy Wood, Terry Harpo Harvey and Pat Two-Glove King. Although Barry loathes playing in the wet, he had a very good round; Terry was not far behind, but Pat found the course difficult.

First of the foursomes were Roger Analyst Handcock, Wayne Gypsy Connett, Tom NHS Woods and Kelvin Curtains Boughey. Another Haverfordwest player, Roger showed local knowledge with the best score so far. Wayne was not up to scratch, but not in the WS window, unlike Kelvin!

Finally came the foursome of Steve Pull-em Allen, Peter Bandit Hughes, Keith Director Leverson and John Scribe James. Once again the home players, Steve and Peter, showed how to play the course, but not reaching a winning score. Keith found the weather too much of a handicap failing to reach 20 points.

Everyone was pleased to enjoy the comforts of the 19th hole before the results were announced.

Mark welcomed Tom to the society and then began the presentations. Individual winner with 35 points was Roger Analyst Handcock - well played Roger. In second place with a better back nine, Steve Pull-em Allen with 34. Also on 34 was Barry Chippy Wood, taking third prize.

Mark opened his shoulders to strike the longest drive, while Darrell landing 29-foot from the pin was near enough for nearest-the-pin.

John's 29 pts was good enough for the OAP prize. Lowest score of the day was recorded by Pat Two-Glove King; his trophy, the wooden spoon. Finally, the team prize went to Steve, Peter, Keith and John with a three-man total of 93 pts.

Thanks were given to the catering and ground staff.
