This month's event took place at Trefloyne Golf Club. Attendance was good, with 23 participating, including a new member, Rod Haynes - welcome to the society.
No complaints about the weather or the course, but scoring was again lower than usual.
Five threesomes teed-off the first and two foursomes started from the 10th.
Leading the way were Anthony Wiseguy Ryan, Mark Angel Wood and Barry Chippie Wood. Despite having a back problem, Chippie managed to outscore the youngsters with 22 pts.
Next away were Steve Dentures Allen, Richard Nelson Davies and Rob Woofer Haynes. Again no outstanding scores, Dentures leading with 24 pts.
Third trio were Martin FCUK Davies, Simon The Swan Davies and Wyn Ball Hound Hopkins. At last a group with some form, two being members at Trefloyne, but The Swan failed to reach 20.
Fourth team away were Peter Bandit Hughes, Darrell Smoothie Jones and Glyn Semi-colon Jones. With a series of wins recently, Smoothie's handicap had fallen to eight and it proved too low for him to take the honours this time, 25 being the best in this group.
Last off the first were John Scribe James, Steve Gizmo Jones and Bobby Battery King. A team expected to compete for prizes, but they followed the trend and failed to reach beyond 25 pts.
Meanwhile, the first foursome from the 10th were Wynne Abacus Richards, Shaun Chatterbox Taylor, Trevor Santa Lewis and John Homer Perrott. At last an improvement, Chatterbox posting 30 pts, closely followed by the Ball Hound on 28, with Homer in the danger zone for the WP!
Finally, Paul Value Marsden, John Bookie Williams, Lee Plod Roberts and John Spindles Hargrave. The Plod managed 26 pts, but the others were below 20, and one failed to score 10!
Considering there were 12 Trefloyne members playing and the course was in good condition, the results were disappointing. Were they hoping for higher handicaps for the next game at Cardigan on March 7!
Afterwards an excellent meal was enjoyed, during which Chippie gave a few of us a taster of a very hot chilli sauce he had acquired from the kitchen - the merest drop was enough to inflame the mouth for at least 10 minutes!
On to the presentation; in first place with a better back nine was Shaun Chatterbox from Martin FCUK, both with 30 pts. In third place was Wyn Ball Hound on 28.
Longest drive went to Bobby Battery. No-one hit the green for nearest the pin, Battery Bob did, but the ball continued past.
The team prize was shared between Martin, Simon and Wyn and Wynne, Shaun, Trevor and John P.
OAP winner was Trevor, 26 pts, over 20 handicap winner was Glyn, 23 pts.
Lastly, the Wooden Spoon to Paul Value Marsden - he's making a habit of it, taking over from Homer.
Once again, thanks to Mark for all his efforts and thanks to the staff at Trefloyne for their hospitality.
