Ironman Wales taking place in Tenby and its surrounding area in September, has reached sell-out status this week.
The sporting triathlon joins Swansea as the second race in the UK to sell-out this season, as the Welsh races prove ever popular amongst athletes.
Ironman Wales will take place on Sunday, September 3.
Every year, Tenby comes alive when thousands of athletes descend on the village to ‘take on the dragon’ in the iconic sporting event.
Cheered on by streets lined with locals and supporters, the atmosphere is rarely beaten anywhere in the world!
The course is challenging with an ocean swim and hilly bike and run legs which will see athletes battle it out over a 3.8km (2.4 mile) swim, 180.2km (112 mile) bike and 42.2km (26.2 mile) run.
The organisers of Ironman Wales have already confirmed the date for 2024’s triathlon in Tenby, which will be Sunday, September 22.
Sam Brawn, Regional Director for UK and Ireland at The Ironman Group said: “Ironman Wales continues to prove immensely popular with our athletes year after year – whether that’s old faces returning to race with us again, or new athletes hoping to tick the iconic course off their bucket list.
“We are very proud that the race was recognised as one of the best events in the global Ironman Series after being voted in Top-10 in multiple categories in the Global Ironman Athletes’ Choice Awards, including 2nd in the ‘Will Recommend To A Friend’ and ‘Overall Host City’ categories.
“It’s also really exciting to see new races, such as the festival weekend in Cork, Ireland, growing in popularity after just one year.
“The UK and Ireland race season officially kicks off in just over a week with Ironman 70.3 Staffordshire on June 11, and we can’t wait for an amazing few months of racing, in whatever weather the British summer decides to throw at us!”
