I think I'll start with the bad news. Our gentlemen's teams playing in the Welsh triples last week failed to get through to the next round. Steve Reese and co., playing at Islwyn, lost 17-15 to D. Prosser and co., of Cynon Valley, while Alan Whitehouse and co., playing at Bro Myrddin, lost 21-17 to A. Davies and co., of Earlswood. Two very close games, with disappointment for our gents.
Now the very good news is that Charles Davies and co. have won through to the next round of the Welsh rinks and are to play J. Phillips and co., of Pontardawe, at Islwyn, on March 23. Good luck gents!
Coming up
Our good wishes go with Steph Amos, who plays in the International Series at Stanley this weekend.
Teams have been selected to play the ladies friendly game at the Meads on March 16. Would ladies selected please make sure they have signed the sheet.
Also on the boards are the teams who have won through to the quarter-finals of our Wednesday evening mixed pairs league.
This game will be played from 7 to 9 pm on Wednesday. Semi-finals to be played on March 19 and finals to be played during tournament week. Good luck to all teams.
We also have the good news that Mal Evans and partner are through to the quarter-finals of the over 60s Welsh open pairs competition, which must be played by March 23. They are up against K. Vaughan and partner of Swansea. We'll keep you updated on this game.
