Heatherton gentlemen had a very difficult game against Dinefwr on Saturday when they played their first club championship fixture.

The scores on most rinks were extremely close, with only one shot deciding the result on one rink.

Full scores with Heatherton skips first: Mal Evans 19 C. Evans 21; Mike Jackson 19 R. Edwards 26; John Roberts 19 D. Price 26; Colin Wynn 12 M. Rees 29; Steve Reese 21 T. Terry 12; Alan Whitehouse 21 E. L. Lloyd 20.

Total score: Heatherton 111 shots (four points) Dinefwr 134 shots (18 points), Dinefwr winning overall by 23 shots.

Also on Saturday, the ladies played their first DJ Trophy game at Earlswood. Following a warm welcome by the Earlswood ladies, the result was as follows,

Heatherton rinks first, Earlswood skips only:

Kath Blayney, Collette Bethwaite, Jo Shewry, skip Steph Amos 19; Eileen Edwards 15.

Cynthia Evans, Di Disney, Penny Brickle, skip Viv Kerrison 10; Celia Jones 27.

Total score: Heatherton 29 shots (two points) Earlswood 42 shots (six points), Earlswood winning overall by 13 shots.

A bit disappointing for both gents and ladies, but it was the first game and there are a lot of games left to play.

A much better result from our junior section. Miss Katie Thomas was playing for the Welsh Under 18 squad at Scotland over the weekend and was in the team that won the bronze medal in the mixed triples. Katie was lead, with Ryan Meredith second and Ryan Boots skip. In a close game against England, skip Ryan bowled his last wood to win the one end play-off and the bronze medal.

Congratulations to Katie, Ryan M. and Ryan B. and to all those taking part, we are very proud of you all.
