Haverfordwest Cricket Club got a fresh coat of paint as it became the latest organisation to be supported by the Sport Pembrokeshire Team’s Annual Task Force Day.
Sponsored by Valero, and in its eighth year, the Task Force Day is a small way to give something back to the strong community of sport and physical activity clubs in Pembrokeshire.
Fittingly for the Racecourse, there were some lovely strokes as the Sport Pembrokeshire Team got busy painting the club’s changing rooms.
Club volunteers also pitched in to tackle the entrance hallway to the clubhouse itself.
Matt Freeman, Sport Pembrokeshire Team Leader, said: “We were pleased to support Haverfordwest Cricket Club as part of our Task Force day.
“The club offers a wide range of inclusive opportunities ranging from disability All-stars – the first club in Wales and England to run such an initiative, to women and girls cricket through to your traditional cricket offers across junior and adult age groups.
“The club is supported by a network of volunteers who provide the club governance and coaching to support not only the junior players and lifeblood of the club but also the senior teams.”
Alex Rowell, Haverfordwest Cricket Club Secretary, said: “It's always fantastic to receive community support, and the recent PCC Task Force Day has given the Club a real lift.
“The repainting and fresh new look to our changing rooms and main corridor has had a big impact; our players and members noticed straight away, and we're extremely grateful to everyone involved for their help.”
Stephen Thornton, Public Affairs Manager of Valero, said: “Valero has always been committed to supporting community sport in Pembrokeshire and we were delighted to sponsor this year’s Task Force Day.
“We thank the Sport Pembrokeshire Team’s for their efforts which we know have made a big difference to Haverfordwest Cricket Club.”
