Three members of Pembrokeshire's boccia club 'The Crymych Panthers' have qualified for the GB Boccia Nationals later this month.

Jacob Thomas, Sian Jones, and Rachel Bailey have all qualified for the event at Stirling, Scotland on the weekend of July 28 and 29.

Jacob Thomas, of Bethesda, will be using the event as preparation for the London 2012 Paralympics later this summer.

The 17-year-old is one of nine players picked for the GB Boccia team earlier this year.

Sian Jones from Goodwick and Rachel Bailey from Narberth will be competing in their first major event outside Wales.

Angela Miles, disability sport officer for Pembrokeshire County Council, congratulated all three boccia players.

"We are delighted that there are three players competing from such a rural area," she said.

Crymych Panthers meet at Haverfordwest Leisure Centre every Wednesday.
