Order of Merit - In the Monthly Medal Order of Merit Glenn Hunter leads the way with 372, followed by Simon Arthur on 374 and Eifion Price with 379.

And in the ladies it’s Rosie Sweet leading the way with 393, ahead of Jane Meyrick 417. So it’s all to play for with one medal left to go.

Beynon Day - On a rare sunny day in August the Beynon Day scramble brought out some great scores.

In 3rd place with 59.8 was Gareth Roberts, Lee Gilpin, Barry Dilworth and Lee Burgin, just pipped by the 59.7 from Derek Jones, Simon Arthur, Finnan Arthur and Dennis Holloway.

But this year’s winners were Ryan Townsend, Maurice Beamand, Nicola Beamand and Andrew Gillard. And the difference? Ryan’s ace on the 16th which not only took nearest the pin but also gave the team just the edge they needed to win the day.

Longest drives were from Pauline Allen and Aaron Roberts, both a very long way down the 18th. Daily Mail Foursomes

Over fifty years ago Kim Beynon and Ian Duffy won the Daily Mail Foursomes. And now Rosie Sweet and Jane Meyrick are following suit, by beating Alexander Park Resort to win their place in the last 16 Finals Event at St Pierre in early October.

Almost 1,000 pairs entered from across the UK and the two Trefloyne ladies saw off challenges from Tenby, Carmarthen, Gower, Milford Haven, Ashburnham, The Vale and Alexander Park, to be the only remaining Welsh pair in the competition. Brilliant stuff ladies!!

It’s time to roll your sleeves up again - Last year members had a great day helping the greens team hollow-tine the greens. This year it’s fairway divots and a litter pick, so come along on Monday, September 25 (time tbc) with a bucket and trowel and a rubbish sack… and space for the drink afterwards!

Enlightening the Academy -After months of research and negotiation floodlights are on their way to the Trefloyne Junior Golf Academy, allowing coaching sessions to continue into the darker evenings.

Huge thanks to Sport Wales for funding two portable lighting towers solely for the Academy’s use, so Matthew Rees can continue his three extremely popular and successful Monday evening sessions with different age and ability groups.
