Sun Shines On Junior Presentation

Follow several attempts to hold our end of season presentation and fun day, last Saturday finally produced a beautiful autumn day for our juniors. Over 25 budding young stars arrived at the Manor ready to play the ever-popular putting and chipping competitions. There was a great spread of golfers representing the boys, girls and first team sections. Our youngest golfer on the day was Frankie, who at aged just two, showed great enthusiasm, especially when the prizes were being handed out. Our director of golf, Oliver, and academy coach, Ryan, were on hand to oversee the completions and both were extremely impressed with the level of skill and etiquette shown. A real testament to the work being done in the weekly academy lessons. The putting event consisted of a 10 hole putting competition which came down the wire in each level. Boys winner was Jonah Cox, girls winner was Lili Cornelius, with Craig Davies taking the first team prize. The chipping event was an extremely tight affair with each golfer pitting their skills from 20 yards scoring points around the target zone. Winner for the boys was Logan Day, the girls Maisie Puzey and the first team Rhys Puzey. A huge thanks to Ned Davies (county player) who was on hand to assist with the competitions and demos. Our members are extremely proud of our thriving junior section and as a club we would like to thank our dedicate professional team and all parents for their continued support. The academy has been in operation for seven years and has been a real driving force at the club. During this time, we have produced six county level juniors, two national squad members and a full Welsh international. We look forward to developing our current crop of juniors over the coming seasons and would welcome any new or interested golfers to contact our director of golf, Oliver, for more information or to register. Our next series of lessons start tomorrow!
