Bank Holiday weekend, Tenby town is heaving with visitors and the weather is divine? Can’t be true! But 18 couples set out to play the most difficult format, a foursomes medal, and before playing wondered if the waterproofs would be needed. However, the weather was glorious, and four pairings even played nett under the standard scratch for the course.

Bag draws - winning back one’s entry fee, went to Keith and Anna Hubbard, Pam and Steve Cole, Andy and Diane Williams and Chris and Carol Beecher. Three twos were recorded and won a sleeve of balls each, they were Pam and Steve Cole on the sixth, and on the 17th Paul and Roz Jenkins, and Paul Bradley and Rebecca Naden.

In fifth place today on count back were Paul and Roz Jenkins with 86-12.0=74.0; fourth were Neil and Sophie Lovatt with 85-11.0=74.0; in third place were Paul Bradley and Rebecca Naden with 91-17.5=74.0; second place went to Idwal David and Sarah Waring with 92-19.0=73.0. But the trophy and first prize of the Mathias Thomas Medal Cup for 2017 went to Roger Schooling and Heather K. Morgan. The cup was presented by our president Allan Morton, and thanks from Roger and Heather to our playing partners, Chris and Carol for their encouragement. Thanks also to Tom in the pro shop for starting us off, to Laura for doing the computer and to Lyn and his team for feeding and ‘watering’ us.

Future notices: Please contact Austin Davies if you can play or help out in Open Week. Remember the more successful it is, the more chance we have of keeping our fees down! The Sam Ackerman Trophy is our next mixed then on Friday, June 15. It is a draw for partners and is on the computer now. Finally, good luck to the Tenby Ping Team in their match against Ashburnham at Carmarthen tomorrow.
