Tenby Golf Foundation (TGF) exists to bring the health giving properties of golf to wider, under-represented sections of our local community throughout Pembrokeshire.
TGF has bought new equipment, trained ‘activator volunteers’ to assist the PGA professional, subsidised the participation fees and is also busy fundraising.
Earlier this month, two new training sessions kicked off at Tenby Golf Club - for Juniors (age 10-16) and for Women (any age).
New equipment was supplied by TGF both for the Juniors and the women, meaning all the participants had to do was ‘turn up’.
Led by PGA golf coach, Matthew Mosely, the Juniors were first to kick off, with over 10 signed up, starting their Week One with ‘putting’ - a core skill for the game.
The sunny May weather was a great help as the teams of youngsters focused on fun, some picking up a golf club for the very first time.
The Women arrived at 6 pm to bust their moves on the putting green (the weather remained sunny!). Again, all new equipment was supplied by TGF.
With putting accounting for around 45% of the golf game, skills learnt in this session will be so important as the Groups eventually take their game to the course. Post match analysis involved Welsh Cakes and chats, with all being delighted at their Week One progress.
Matt was supported by the keen group of ‘Activator Volunteers’ from Tenby Golf Club - all of whom were recently trained by Wales Golf in the art of supporting these new groups.
Tenby Golf Foundation would like to thank everyone who made these events not only possible, but a great success.
