Last Friday, Tenby Golf Club hosted their annual Junior Open. A total of 37 junior golfers competed, representing 10 of the Dyfed golf clubs.
There were three competitions - boys 18-hole yellow box medal, girls 18-hole red box medal and a six-hole modified stableford for the younger players.
The weather was kind, with only the gentlest of breezes, the sun shone brightly and the course was in excellent condition, which made for some impressive scoring.
Results were as follows:
Boys medal - 1st place and winner of the Tenby Open Shield - Osian Griffiths (Glyn Abbey) 95-23-72; 2. Euan Devlin (Glyn Abbey) 98-25-73, on countback; 3. Ifan Phillips (Newport Links), 85-12-73; lowest gross score and winner of the Pembrokeshire Gas Trophy - Joss Lerwill (Newport Links) 79-12-67 (players cannot win multiple trophies). One two was recorded - Euan Devlin; nearest the pin 12th hole - Tom Wright (Trefloyne).
Girls medal - 1st place and winner of the Ian Thomas Trophy - Dwynwyn Holgate (Cardigan) 97-24-73; 2. Nel Allen (Tenby) 104-30-74; 3. Megan Thomas (Carmarthen) 83-8-75; lowest gross score and winner of the Jones Lewis Salver - Kasumi Tran (Tenby) 81-7-74.
Modified Stableford - 1st place and winner of the Dassen Adams Trophy - Harri Thomas (Glyn Abbey) 31 pts; 2. Olly Vaughan-Harries (Milford Haven) 30, on countback; 3. Tom Vaughan-Harries (Milford Haven) 30. Nearest the pin sixth hole - Olly Vaughan-Harries.
Well done all competitors, congratulations to the winners and a big thank you to everyone who assisted prior to the competition and during the event, ensuring a successful and enjoyable day.
