LADIES’ SECTION
I cannot believe that it is almost the end of my captain’s year, the time has just flown by. A few more results since my last report.

Two Stableford competitions were next. The first was won by Mary Lewis, 33 points, and second Lynne Rees, 31. Some excellent scoring for the second Stableford. First Lynn Messingham, with 40 points, beating Carole Blackwell on the back nine.

Another popular competition is the Ladies’ Past Captain Stableford competition. First Ann Williams, 32 points, and second Anita Davies, 31. It was nice to sit down and enjoy a meal and a few drinks in the clubhouse.
On October 12, we played another Stableford. First Sharon Kaye, 36 points, and second Lynne Rees, also 36, losing on countback.
October 19 was the day for means and extremes. This is a greensomes competition with a high and a low handicap drawn together. First Mary Lewis and Ann Rees, 35 points, and runner-up Jayne Lewis and Lynn Messingham, 30.
Before he passed away, Pat Kilvington had been a valued member of South Pembs. Golf Club, together with his wife Kate, who was also the caterer for a while. My husband Jack and Pat worked for the same company out in Thailand where their paths never crossed, but they did meet in the London office. While in Thailand, Pat and Kate bought a glorious trophy which everyone would like to have on their mantlepiece for a year. The Pat Kilvington competition is a mixed foursomes for which we draw partners and there is always great anticipation as to who will be drawn together. This year’s winners on Thursday, October 20, were Ann Rees and Angus Hayward, with a great score of 40 points, and runners-up Lynne Rees and Darrell Willingham, 37. There was one two on the 14th, Anita Davies and Chris Clarkson. Thanks to Russ, we enjoyed a meal together afterwards and there was a raffle. A big thank you to all who donated prizes. The sum of £70 was raised to help the clubs funds.
