Last Wednesday evening, Tenby Golf Club held its Tipton Cups competition. Twenty-four pairs took part with a shotgun start.
The format was the tough foursomes medal, playing conditions were hard with a stiff south-westerly and heavy rough for the wayward shots.
Nevertheless, some reasonable cards were posted. Steve Sutcliffe and Dave Blackmore came fourth with 73.5, losing out to Peter Rossi and Gethin Evans on countback.
The St. Florence pair of Chris Smith and Ian Jarvis claimed the runners-up spot with their 73.
However, the 2018 Tipton Cups winners were young brothers Jack and Luck Harries with a fine net 72. Their gross 73 was a full nine shots better than the next best.
They started with a double bogey (6) on the seventh when Luke hit his three-iron tee-shot out of bounds! Subsequently, they had three bogeys, but also picked up four birdies.
The leading scores were: Jack Harries & Luke Harries 73-1-72; Chris Smith and Ian?Jarvis 91-18-73; Peter Rossi and Gethin Evans 88-14.5-73.5; Steve Sutcliffe and David Blackmore 85-11.5-73.5; David Cope and Gary McKeown 88-13-5-74.5; James Brown and Adam?Thorne 83-7.5-75.5; Richard Morton and Philip Goodridge 85-9-76; Michael Schooling and Darren Thomas 83-7-76; Jerry?Whitehouse and Dave Morris 82-5.5-76.5; Neil R. Thomas and Jeremy Peters 88-11.5-76.5.
