Friday, July 14, saw the postponed mixed Sam Ackerman Trophy finally played for. The draw for partners threw up some interesting partnerships, with all to play for in this Stableford event.

On the night, the victory went to John Gilman and Pam Cole with 41 points. John was defending his title won last year with Helen Hughes, and prior to that, with Gill John.

Roger Schooling and Trevayne Keohane were second with 39 points, Idwal David and Georgina Ormond third on 35, with Neil Evans and Beverley Owen missing out over the line to come fourth, also on 35.

There were no twos on the night, so it was decided to have an extra bag draw. The lucky pairings were: Sarah Waring and Gavin Field-Thomas, Liz Storey and Rob Moore, Trevayne Keohane and Roger Schooling, Sue Shooter and Allan Morton, and Maura Gunning and Ian Jarvis.

Thank you to the staff in the shop, as well as Emma and her team for looking after our dietary needs and refreshments. And last, but not least, thanks also to Steve Cole and Irene Gilman for processing the cards.

The next event to look forward to is the mixed away match at St. Pierre on July 30. Please see the noticeboard for tee-off times and pairings. Ladies please wear our smart new uniform, and gentlemen the red polo shirts with fawn shorts or trousers.

Finally, don’t forget to tell your golfing friends in other clubs about our mixed open, The Morgan Tucker Greensomes, on August 13. Entry forms can be downloaded from the website, or picked up from the office at Tenby Golf Club. There are visitors’ prizes as well as the trophy for members. The competition goes live for members on the computer on July 23.
