Princes Gate Spring Water is giving football fans in Tenby the opportunity to win a kicking class with stars of Wales’ national football team.
The competition, which launched earlier this month, is being run on a special edition 12-pack of still water created by Princes Gate in celebration of the Football Association of Wales (FAW) as it takes part in its first major championships in 50 years.
Available to buy in Tesco and Asda supermarkets across Wales, the on-pack promotion, which runs for six months, features stars from the Welsh football squad.
Producing over 120 million bottles of spring water each year, Princes Gate has been the FAW’s official water supplier for the past eight years.
Princes Gate’s commercial director Samantha Atkinson, said: “Having partnered with the FAW for a number of years, it seemed fitting to mark this momentous occasion for the Wales team with a special edition of our popular 12-pack.
“We also wanted to give something back to all our loyal customers by giving them the chance to win a kicking class with members of the team. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity to meet and train with Wales’ top football stars so we think it’s going to be a very popular competition.”
The partnership with the FAW has seen Princes Gate’s registered charity, the Princes Gate Trust, chosen to receive half the proceeds of the Manic Street Preachers official Wales EURO 2016 song, ‘Together Stronger (C’mon Wales).’
Money raised from the single will help the charity enhance and enrich the lives of disadvantaged children and young people and their families throughout Wales.
As part of its 25th anniversary celebrations, Princes Gate is aiming to raise £100,000 this year for the trust.
Helping support its efforts, Welsh rugby legends Shane Williams, Ian Gough and Ryan Jones joined members of the Princes Gate team in cycling 650 miles to France following the Wales football team to their first match against Slovakia on June 11.
On the challenge ahead, Shane said: “I really enjoyed cycling with the Princes Gate team and supporting the Wales football team by cycling to France. It was a huge challenge, but it was for a very worthy cause and it’s also great training for me in preparation for Ironman Wales later this year.
“As a passionate Welsh man, it’s fantastic to see the Wales football team doing so well in this tournament.”
David Jones, managing director of Princes Gate Spring Water and founder of the Princes Gate Trust, said: “Our 25th anniversary is a significant landmark for our business. It is something we’re incredibly proud and in reaching this milestone, we wanted to up-the-ante in terms of our fundraising efforts for the trust.
“We are all huge football fans so when a member of the team suggested cycling from Wales to France to follow the national team, we jumped at the chance to take on the challenge. It was a tough few days but totally worth it.
“We are hopeful that people from across Wales will enter our exciting competition and support us in our efforts of raising money to change lives and create smiles.”
Jonathan Ford, chief executive at The Football Association of Wales, said: “The Football Association of Wales is delighted by the support received by Prince Gate Spring Water. The bike ride is a fantastic initiative and all the money raised will be going to support the excellent work of the Princes Gate Trust.
“As a cyclist myself, I appreciate the tremendous effort it took to cycle all the way down to Bordeaux. Hopefully the team on the pitch will give them something to celebrate.”
