Happy New Year to Everyone! was the message greeting all who opened the official results from the Pembrokeshire League. It would have been too had the rain gods not got in the way of progress.

Of the scheduled matches to be played (32 of them), only 10 went ahead as the others fell foul of flooded pitches.

In division one, only three games took place, with Goodwick United beating Neyland 3-0, Hakin United drawing 0-0 with West Dragons and Lamphey sneaking a win over Pennar Robins at Bush Camp.

In a goalless first half, with neither team exerting any influence, the deadlock was broken through a Danno Kitts goal before Mikey Davies increased the Stags’ lead.

This was reduced when Sam Southcott headed home for the hosts, but there was no happy New Year finish for the home team as the visitors held firm.

In division two, the only game to survive the weather was the 5-5 draw between Solva and Llangwm, while in three, the only games to go ahead were the one between Manorbier United and Pendine, which the Seagulls won 4-2, and that between Clarbeston Road and Pembroke Boro, which Clarbie won 4-2.

Josh Lealand and Jake Cambourne scored for the visitors, but it wasn’t enough on the day.

Division four fared a little better, with three matches taking place. Llangwm seconds beat St. Ishmaels’ seconds 6-2, while goals from Liam Butland, Connor Rees and Willy Wallace helped Monkton Swifts’ seconds beat Fishguard Sports 3-0.

Meanwhile, Pennar Robins’ thirds lost to Solva seconds 6-3.

Finally, in division five, only one game took place, with Dalton Boswell scoring for Consheston AFC in their 1-1 draw at home against Saundersfoot Sports’ seconds.
