League football gave way to the Senior Cup for some teams last Saturday and Carew had few issues in making it through to the next round.

They made home advantage count against their division three opponents and romped through courtesy of an 8-0 victory against Milford Athletic.

The win wasn’t surprising given the chasm between the teams and Carew’s good form this season compared to Milford Athletic’s indifference, but the manner of it was.

Carew were simply unstoppable, which bodes well for the remainder of their season.

Zac Rowell benefited most, his hat-trick ensuring there was no way back for the visitors, while Scott Fearney added a well-taken brace of his own. The other goals came from James Hinchliffe, Morgan Scourfield and Alex Bailey.

There was an interesting derby at Cosheston with Pembroke Boro the visitors and again, home advantage told, with the hosts running out 4-1 winners.

Dalton Boswell scored twice for the home team, with Lee Digan and Liam Elliot also getting in on the act, while Josh Lealand scored for the visitors.

Lamphey travelled to Merlins Bridge and were no match for the Wizards as the hosts eased their way to a 7-0 win over the well beaten Stags.

In league action, Angle played host to Neyland, but the Nomads were far too strong for the home team, winning 3-1, Patrick McDonagh netting the home team’s’ only goal.

Craig Turner and Stuart James both scored twice for Monkton Swifts in their 5-0 win over Herbrandston, with Daniel Scourfield scoring the other goal in the one-sided romp, while at Bush Camp, Narberth were in fine form, beating Pennar Robins 4-0.

Dafydd Wright scored twice for the victors, with Ceri Phillips and Chris Brown getting the others.

In division two there was defeat for Lawrenny at Fishguard Sports, losing 3-2. Sam Davies and Joe Kidney scored for the away team, while at Hakin, the home team’s seconds beat visiting St Clears 5-0.

Two goals from Mark Edwards and one each for Davies and Lewis helped Hundleton to a solid 4-2 win at Johnston, while Kilgetty won away, too, securing a 6-3 victory at Llangwm.

The game between Saundersfoot Sports and Merlins Bridge seconds was postponed, while in division three Jacon Knox’s goal was the only bright spot in Carew seconds’ 3-1 loss at Broad Haven.

Manorbier United travelled to Clarbeston Road to take on their seconds, but came away with nothing following a 4-2 defeat, while there were postponements for Narberth seconds v Pennar Robins’ seconds and Pendine v Goodwick United seconds.

Defeat, too, for St. Florence with a 3-1 result at West Dragons’ seconds.

In division four, Kilgetty seconds’ game against Angle seconds was postponed, while Lamphey seconds eased to a 5-1 win at home against St. Ishmaels’ seconds.

Two goals each for Rhys Davies, Wayne Boswell, Luke Hendry and one from Laim Butland helped Monkton Swifts’ seconds win 7-2 at home against Solva seconds, while Pennar Robins’ thirds hammered Herbrandston seconds 6-1.

St. Clears’ seconds lost 2-1 at home against Llangwm seconds.

In division five, Carew thirds were smashed 8-3 at Hundleton seconds.

Ben Pugh scored two for Carew, with Steve Jenkins netting the other, but for the dominant home team, Sam Blunsden and Jack Phillips scored twice alongside a goal each for Billy Abrahams, Sam Sharpe, Jack Goodman and Andrew Haye.

There was a close game at Lawrenny, with the home team’s seconds narrowly beating Pembroke Boro seconds 4-3.

Simon Cole scored twice for the victors, with the other goals coming from Harry Thomas and Kieran Johnson, while for the Boro, George McBeth scored twice and Jake Campbell the other.

Meanwhile, Saundersfoot Seconds were at Letterston seconds and lost 4-2, despite goals from Milward and Farmato.
