Pembrokeshire is ruling the roost when it comes to football in West Wales and Carew and Merlins Bridge are leading the way.
The teams will contest this year’s Senior Cup Final on the Bridge Meadow and 16 days later will both travel to the Liberty Stadium in Swansea to battle it out for the West Wales trophy.
Carew got there after overcoming the challenge of Giants’ Grave last night. They won 4-2 depspite trailing at half time.
Such was the dominance of Iwan Izzard and his men towards the end of the game it could have been more although no doubt the Rooks will be satisfied with their winning margin as it was the win that matters.
Sam Christopher and Lloyd Evans were the heroes of the night (in goal scoring terms at least, although the whole squad can lay a claim to that title) as they both finished with two apiece.
In league action, Saundersfoot Sports went down to a heavy defeat at Clarbeston Road going down 6-2 with Jack Franklin and Adam Davidson scoring for the Seasiders.
A difficult day for St Clears too after they lost 4-0 at Goodwick United.
The game at Jesse Road went with the visitors as Pennar Robins beat the Bluebirds 3-1.
Brychan David scored for the home side but goals by Sam Southcott, Ben Adams and Josh Clarke ensured the points went back with Pennar.
It was a fabulous day for Kilgetty after they made it to the final of the division two cup beating the might of Hakin 4-1 after extra time.
The Kingsmoor outfit produced one of the better displays of the season to keep Hakin at 0-0 at full time but then two goals by Henry Lawrence and one each by Ollie Gamble and Tom Mansbridge ensured it was Kilgetty going through and not Hakin.
In league action Hundleton beat Letterson 3-1 away after goals by Jack Blunsden, Charlie Perkins and an own goal while Lawrenny prevailed at Llangwm/H’West Cricket Club winning 2-1.
Given their league form Carew seconds would have been confident of going through to the final of the division three cup but they were beaten at the post by Pendine who won 2-1.
Harvey Langston scored the goal for Carew but scores from Connor Bowen and Damien Lewis ensured it was Pendine who will have a big day out.
In the league, Narberth seconds went down 4-0 at Milford Athletic while Monkton Seconds beat Goodwick United seconds 6-0 thanks to goals by Josh Sture, Cory Mair and a brace apiece by Wayne Boswell and Liam Butland.
A win too for Pembroke Boro after they beat St Clears seconds 3-0 thanks to a Phil John double and one by Brandon Williamson.
At Hundleton, a Tom Beynon goal wasn’t enough to satisfy a result for Hundleton after they lost 4-1 at home to Camrose while Kilgetty seconds and their counterparts from Pembroke Boro served up a goal fest at Kingsmoor with the visitors winning 7-5.
Jamie Aries scored four for the Boro with the other goals coming from Jake Campbell, Andy Evans and an own goal.
For Kilgetty, Jack Waters scored twice while the others came from Ryan Coleman, Duanne Rossiter and Dean Morgan.
Meanwhile, Pennar thirds went down 4-3 at St Ishmaels despite goals by Rodd Jones, Jamie Groves and Niall Brunton.
