Kilgetty AFC held its first in-house coaching session on Sunday as a part of a new initiative to establish a framework of support for the junior section of the club.
The session took place at Tenby Leisure Centre, and was organised and staffed jointly between Gerry Rigby and Jamie Bessant.
Participants, who were drawn from the various teams within the club, took part in a series of practical technical drills and typical sessions relevant to junior football requirements.
This event was designed to be just the first in what will be regular meetings of this group.
It is intended to develop the scope of this activity, whereby parents and indeed all supporters of the club will be invited to join the group, in order to investigate what talents they could bring, and the manner in which they could help to enhance the football experience of the children.
Kilgetty AFC is the proud recipient of the coveted FAW Gold Standard Award in the club accreditation scheme.
It is the only club in Pembrokeshire to have been awarded this accolade, and indeed, there are only seven other clubs in the whole of Wales who have been granted this award.
Club Chairman Lukas Gamble said: “We are obviously very proud of the Gold Award which is testament to all the hard work of the members and committee, but we are aware that to continue with these very high standards we have to constantly look to see where we can improve .
“Creating this junior section will help us to maintain those standards, and indeed where possible, to improve them,” he added.
The next meeting for the group will be held at Kilgetty clubhouse on Monday, November 12 starting at 7 pm.
