HAKIN United extended their lead at the top of the Manderwood Pembrokeshire League Division One table with a 3-0 win at Tenby on Saturday.
With a lot of teams involved in the West Wales Intermediate Cup this was the only top flight fixture played and Hakin took advantage to move five points clear of champions Goodwick United.
Having beaten Tenby 2-1 at home back in August, Hakin were confident of completing a league double and with the wind at their backs they took a one-goal lead into the break, Jack Griffiths firing past Dylan Noot after good work by Leon Luby.
Tenby created a few decent openings but fell further behind on the hour when defender Cameron Thomas unleashed a 15-yarder which had the beating of Noot.
Hopes of a Tenby revival were dashed when Vikings skipper Ryan Wilson made it 3-0 from close range to secure Hakin’s sixth win in seven league outings.
Hakin United Reserves also top their table in Division Two after they gained revenge for last week’s 3-2 defeat at Goodwick United Reserves.
Played in very windy conditions at The Obs, there was little to choose between the two teams in a goalless first half.
But Hakin had the better of the second stanza with an impressive team display to take the spoils.
Hayden Dimond opened their account on 58 minutes, Tom Edmonds with the assist, and Mason Dolling doubled their tally with 20 minutes remaining.
The visitors pushed to get back into it but Hakin defended resolutely to hold on for the win which took them a point above Milford United.
Monkton Swifts Reserves returned to winning ways in the other match played in the division with a 6-2 victory against bottom-of-the-table Carew Reserves.
Goals by Rudy Poole, Nathan Ferrier and Rhys Sture put the Swifts in a commanding position early on but the hosts his back with a Mohamed Maamri strike on the stroke of half time.
The visitors stepped it up again after the break and extended their lead through Sture and substitute Aaron Parsley.
Mammri bagged his brace on 65 minutes, but Monkton capped a fine team performance with Poole also netting his second of the afternoon.
In Division Three, early pacesetters Tenby AFC 2nds had to settle for a point after a 1-1 draw at Broad Haven who took the lead through Jack Morgan on the half hour.
Darren Gibson equalised very early in the second half but they failed to add to their tally.
That allowed Haverfordwest CC to close the gap at the top to three points as they beat Kilgetty 2nds with a late winner by Liam Sheehan.
With the wind at their backs, hosts Haverfordwest built an early lead with a couple of goals by Jason Griffiths inside 10 minutes.
Morgan Chinsammy reduced the arrears with a brave header before the break and that confidence-booster inspired them in the second half with Chinsammy getting his second with a wonder strike into the top corner.
