Chelsea Football Club Academy workers travelled to Pembrokeshire last week to offer coaching sessions and training for Kilgetty Amateur Football Club.
The visit was organised by Darren Mansell from Station Garage Hyundai, Kilgetty.
Chelsea Football Club announced Hyundai as their new official global automotive partner earlier this year. Darren, Kilgetty AFC Under 13s coach, heard how Chelsea’s partnership are looking to work closely with Hyundai to develop a range of initiatives and benefits for supporters all over the world and wanted to get involved.
Activities began in May when Darren arranged for the Kilgetty Under 13 team to visit Chelsea Football Club’s Stamford Bridge stadium
Chris Wooward and Aroon, Chelsea Academy Development, travelled from London to Pembrokeshire. They held a coach education session for Kilgetty AFC coaches last Friday evening at Station Garage Hyundai showroom, Kilgetty.
Chris Woodward shared knowledge from his 12 years of work with Chelsea FC. The session leaders taught from their experience of Chelsea’s hugely successful approach to Premier League Academy player development. They focused on all aspects of the game and player development, including planning diverse, fun and engaging sessions to help players grow, improve and gain experience in skill and technique.
“All at Kilgetty AFC would like to thank Chris and Aroon for their visit. The night was a real success and a great opportunity for Kilgetty coaches to further develop their knowledge and get an insight into Chelsea’s approach to player development,” said Darren Mansell.
On Saturday morning, Kilgetty AFC coaches and parents watched as the Chelsea coaches led a fantastic training session with the Under 13s boys at Tenby Astro Turf, Greenhill School.
“It was a fabulous morning of football coaching from two Chelsea Academy coaches. Boys, parents and coaches learned a lot from their session. Well done to all boys that took part!
“We thank everyone involved and look forward to hopefully making further contacts with Chelsea FC soon!” concluded Darren.
