Football fever gripped Greenhill School in Tenby on Sunday as it hosted the fourth 5x60 Inter Secondary Schools Girls Football Tournament.

More than 70 girls from all over the county took part in the event, which received sponsorship from Valero's Leading Partners in Sport initiative.

The final was a very hard fought and exciting match with Ysgol Bro Gwaun 'A' team defeating Ysgol y Preseli by 2-0.

The winners trophy was presented to Ysgol Bro Gwaun captain Chloe Campbell by Angharad James, Arsenal Ladies and Welsh International Footballer.

The Player of the Tournament Trophy was awarded to Ysgol Bro Gwaun goalkeeper Carys Williams for her outstanding 'shot stopping' performance. The trophy was presented to Carys by Andy Van Oppen in memory of his daughter Shannon who represented the winning Ysgol Bro Gwaun team in 2009.

Organised by Sport Pembrokeshire - the Sports Development team at Pembrokeshire County Council - the 5x60 project aims to encourage secondary school pupils to take part in extra curricular activities, while getting fit at the same time.

Russell Jones, 5x60 manager for Sport Pembrokeshire, said: "Football engages large number of girls in healthy and regular exercise. The standard at the competition was very high and girls and spectators thoroughly enjoyed themselves."
