A win for Cresselly, a win for Neyland and a win for Haverfordwest.
Wins for the top three teams in this year’s race to be crowned division one champions meaning no-one is none the wiser as to who will lift the trophy.
Cresselly did for Burton overhauling their total of 158 all out thanks to Dan Sutton’s 78 and Adam Chandler’s 69 not out.
Earlier, Dan James, Sam Harts, Ryan Lewis and Dan Cherry all took a brace of wickets to dismiss the second from bottom side.
Kilgetty are just above them, lying third from bottom and, although 38 points clear of Burton, they are by no mean out of the woods just yet. They went down to Neyland by eight wickets after being skittled for 134, Kyle Marsh’s 61 the only highlight.
Lawrenny picked up a win over already relegated Johnston, dismissing the Tigers for just 67 thanks to Jamie Lewis’ 3-34 and Simon Cole’s 3-2 while Whitland’s defeat at Haverfordwest harmed their title aspirations as they lost ground on the top three.
Whitland were all out for 134, with Geraint Jones hitting 70 not out, but could only take seven Harfat wickets in the reply as they stuttured to a win, Iestyn Scourfield taking 5-34.
In division two, Carew are still on for breaking the 500 points barrier should they continue winning after securing their 15th win of the season away at Hook.
The host were dismissed for 73 after Tudor Hurle took 4-9 and Max Brindley 3-17.
Brindley was in the runs too scoring 22 alongside Tom Davies’ 47 not out.
Pembroke drew with Cresselly seconds thanks to Barry Evans’s 58 and Spencer Harries’s 37 as they held on at 167-8 against Cresselly’s 171-8.
Neal Williams scored 63 not out for Cresselly and Steffan Jenkins 31.
Whitland seconds went down to Haverfordwest seconds by eight wickets after they scored 160-7, Dai Lee scoring 73, while Saundersfoot remain in second place after beating Llechryd at home.
The visitors were all out for 97 in reply to the hosts’ 213-7 in which Jon Mansbridge hit 73 not out and Gareth Edwards 84.
Mansie was in the wickets too taking 3-17 and Neil Powling 5-8.
For the third year in succession, Narberth are tailing away in August, meaning their promotion hopes are fading.
They ended up with a losing draw at Stackpole after the home team hit 213-7 with Narberth finishing on 209-8.
Josh Davies top scored for the Lillies with 44, while Kyle Quartermaine scored a blistering 108 for the visitors after Matthew Johns had earlier taken 5-21.
Lamphey picked up their first positive result for the second half of the season after a winning draw (new rules meaning effectively a win) at Narberth seconds.
James Skeels was on fire once again for the Stags, hitting 117 and Pete McGilloway 66 in the visitors’ 259-4, while Mike Johns scored 73 and young Will Nicholas 20 in the reply of 137-8.
Andrew Skeels took 3-31, while Hywel Gibbs took 2-16 including the wicket of Johns, the first time he has dismissed the opening bat in 30 years of playing against him!
Lawrenny seconds went down to Herbrandston who are staging a late charge for promotion.
The home team were all out for 88, while Herbie passed it for the loss of one wicket.
Jack Tucker scored 27 for the hosts.
Carew seconds look certs for the division title after hammering Neyland seconds by 163 runs. The Rooks batted first, hit 243-6 thanks to Nick Scourfield’s 91, Rib Hicks’ 58 and Nick Davies’ 58 while they bowled Neyland out for 80 after Shaun Whitfield took 6-9.
A shock for the Dock though as they were beaten away at Haverfordwest thirds by two wickets.
Pembroke Dock hit 137 all out, with Craig Butland hitting 61, with the home team crossing the line on 138-8 despite Rob Hearne’s 4-16.
Bottom side Hundleton lost again in division four, this time against Crymych, who eased to an eight wicket win.
Hundleton scored 157-8 thanks to Steffan Williams’s 50 not out and Yori Humphries’s 49, but Crymych found it easy going in reply.
Laugharne overcame Hook seconds by 10 wickets after Hook were all out for 63, Carl Smith taking 4-13, while Kevin Pearce hit 53 not out in reply, meanwhile Danny Caine smashed 97 for Saundersfoot seconds and Navett Kawale 53 in their 210-6 against Burton seconds who could only muster 124-7 in reply, Toby Pappachan taking 3-27.
Finally, in division five, there were wins for Cresselly thirds at Neyland thirds, Haverfordwest Fourths at Pembroke Dock seconds and Carew thirds and Pembroke seconds, while Whitland thirds overcame Stackpole seconds.
Cory Hill scored 46 not out in Cresselly’s 139 all out at Neyland, but with Chris Izzard taking 3-19, Neyland were all ot for 59.
Despite Simon Smith-Wrench’s 40, Pembroke Dock could only inch their way to 114 all out against Haverfordwest who only lost two wickets in the reply, while second placed Carew beat leaders Pembroke seconds by 10 wickets after Pembroke were all out for 108.
Luke Hicks shone for Carew, taking 4-18 and scoring 96 not out.
Stackpole were all out for 79 at Whitland thanks to a brace of wickets each by Jeremy Woodford, Wayne Jones and Harry Fuller, with Woodford hitting 64 in Whitland’s 197-4.
Alec Colley Cup Final
Whitland will play Haverfordwest in the final of the Alec Colley Cup at Pembroke on Sunday, 12th August.
The two innings per side match of 20 overs each will commence at 12.00pm. Admission is £4.00, OAPs £2.00, County Cricket Club vice-presidents and children under 16 free.
Ken Morris Cup Final
Haverfordwest will play Carew at Narberth in the final of the Ken Morris Cup on Bank Holiday Monday, 27th August.
The competition, open to all clubs with a third team, has been played over 10 preliminary rounds and the top two teams have qualified.
Wickets will be pitched at 12.00pm.
