Five Pembrokeshire swimmers have been selected to swim for Wales in a major national championship.

Michael Hire (Pembroke), Jonathan Orchard (Pembroke), Jordan Harding (Haverfordwest Seals), Daniel Thomas (Pembroke) and Kelsey Williams (Haverfordwest Seals) have been selected for the ASA National County Team Championships.

The competition takes place in Sheffield on October 14.

Wales is allowed to enter two teams into the competition. The teams are split geographically and Pembrokeshire is included in the West of Wales teams.

The five swimmers are members of Pembrokeshire Swimming Performance squad and are coached Paul Dowey, Pembrokeshire Leisure's Swimming Development Coach.

"All our county swimmers train extremely hard and it's great to see their efforts rewarded by this selection," he said.

"We can be very proud of the quality of swimmers our county produces."

Any young swimmer interested in taking up the sport competitively should contact their local development club - Fishguard Flyers, Haverfordwest Seals, Milford Haven Tigers, Tenby Dolphins or Pembroke and District - at their local leisure centre.
