Carew's attempt at finishing the season with silverware fell flat at the Bridge Meadow as they lost 2-0 against West Dragons.
For the victors, it was their fourth piece of silverware in five seasons and Carew boss Barry Evans admitted they deserved the win as they were the superior footballing side.
That said, had James Buckle converted a one-on-one n the first half to equalise, he felt the result could have been so different.
Carew tried to negate their opponents' free-flowing style by hounding them down and for large portions of the game the tactic worked, but a goal in each half saw them lose out on the night.
Carew can take heart from reaching the final, however, as only a season or two ago, they were languishing in the depths of the division and had to fight to avoid relegation. Their appearance proves how far they have come under Evans's leadership and they were in with a chance of promotion, too, until they faltered late on in the season.
Evans had no complaints with the result and said his players can be proud of how far they have come in such a short amount of time.
"It wasn't a bad game to be honest, but we just couldn't convert our chances. On another day, had Bucks (Buckle) scored we could have seen a different result, but I can't really complain.
"It's been a good season for us and we can take heart from this and move on next year. The spirit in the club is excellent and we all play for each other.
"Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose, but I've got no regrets, they're a very good side."
