GREEN OPENING

The official opening of the Saundersfoot green for the 2016 season takes place today (Saturday), at 2 pm, with the first wood being rolled by the chairman of the Saundersfoot Community Council, Phil Baker. Hopefully, if the weather is kind, this will be followed by a friendly roll-up for those members who wish to participate.

TUESDAY TRIPLES

The ever-popular Tuesday triples competition commences next Tuesday and will continue every week throughout the season. Club members, prospective new bowlers and visitors are welcome to join in.

FRIENDLY

The first friendly of the season takes place next Wednesday with a visit from Briton Ferry senior citizens. A list is on the board, so get your names down quickly to enable this year’s club captain, Mackie Brace, to pick a team. The visitors will be men only unfortunately, as their ladies have double booked, but are happy to play against a mixed team and it’s a 2 pm start. Players please note that the dress code for this friendly will be white tops and greys. As there is no game on the green on Saturday, April 16 (the ladies commence their league games the following day), the two men’s teams hope to play a friendly between themselves. See Mackie and Billy Glynn for more information.

TOURNAMENT NOTICES

The entry forms for the open and club competitions can be found on the relevant notice board. Please note the closing dates and monies with entries please!

EDDIE GULLIVER

Sad to report that past member Eddie Gulliver has passed away. Eddie, together with wife Pat, originally from the Midlands, lived in Kilgetty prior to moving to Burry Port a few years ago and both were keen bowlers and supporters of the club. I’m sure that many members will remember him with affection, always with a smile on his face and sympathy is extended to Pat and family.

WORKING PARTY

The men’s working party that was planned for last weekend was a washout (what did you expect!), but hopefully, tasks will have been completed during this week.

GOOD WISHES

Finally this week, all our bowlers are wished good luck for the forthcoming season in whatever competitions they are involved in. Fingers crossed (toes and whatever else you can manage!) for warm and fine weather!
