HEATHERTON hosted defending champions Cardiff in their opening Welsh Indoor Premier Bowls League fixture.
From the word go they got to grips with the green and in no time at all they went into a commanding lead.
As well as Heatherton played they were no match for their illustrious opponents, and failed to secure any points on the day.
In their next fixture on Saturday, 18th October Heatherton travelled to Blaenau Gwent where they were confident in securing their first points of the season.
Blaenau Gwent only have a three-rink stadium, so it meant splitting between morning and afternoon.
The morning session ended at 58 -58, unfortunately one rink had a bad start and went down by 13 shots whilst the other two rinks were very close.
The same thing happened in the afternoon session with one rink going down quite badly and the others very close.
This meant that overall Heatherton lost by 14 shots, but they did secure 8pts.
On Saturday Heatherton travelled to Llanelli and came up against a strong team on their own patch.
As well as Heatherton played they were unable to match their opponents ( who had the rub of the green ) and were only able to secure t wo points., winning on only one rink.
This Saturday Heatherton play Newport at home.
In between the premiership fixtures, Heatherton over 60s played their first fixture of the season, when they entertained a team from Abertawe.
The Heatherton team played very well on all rinks, with one skipped by Colin Wynn winning by almost 40 shots. The team secured the maximum 14pts.
The next fixture for the over 60s is on 29th October when they travel to Llanelli to play Selwyn.
