The annual pairs competition for members of the Tenby, Saundersfoot and Whitland clubs took place on Bank Holiday Monday at the Sutton Street green with twenty four teams split into four sections and after a round robin format, the top two in each group progressing to the knock out stages.

The weather could not have been more perfect with the tournament commencing at 9 am and continuing until 6 pm.

The event, which has been sponsored since 2004 by W. and M. J. Rossiter and Sons, the independent family funeral directors of Tenby and Narberth, had teams playing for total prize money of £365, plus t-shirts, bowls holders, bowls towels and of course the prestigious cut glass Rossiter trophy.

The eventual winners saw Andrew Evans, of Whitland, and Ryan Thomas, of Tenby, retaining the title they won last year at Saundersfoot, defeating Ben Simmons and James Criddle in the final.

In the play-off for third place, Steve Dick and Brian Desmond, of Saundersfoot, were victorious over Katie Thomas and Sophie Hollins, of Whitland.

At the presentation ceremony, conducted by Simon Rossiter, all the competitors were thanked, the winners congratulated with the ladies Liz, Carol, Christine, Jean and Meryl receiving special mention for their hard work keeping everyone fed throughout the long day.

Lynn Deli Rafferty received praise for the efficient way she organised the competition and all the ladies received a gift from Simon.

Although the whole day is sponsored by the Rossiter family, the proceeds of the raffle and a small entry fee totalling £241 were donated towards the cost of a First Responder Defibrillator for the Tenby club in memory of the late Dai Rees.
