Whitland 20 pts. Kidwelly 24
Whitland's disppointing start to the new season continued on Saturday when they went down at home to Kidwelly. Kidwelly, themselves, were looking for their first win of the campaign, and they quickly had the Borderers back-pedalling, opening up an early 13-point advantage with a try from winger Jonathan Evans, converted by Peter Smiriglia, who also banged ove two penalty goals. By half-time, though, Whitland had battled back and had reduced the deficit to just three following a try by winger Will Davies, which was converted by Jonathan Thomas, who also landed a penalty. Soon after the break, Thomas levelled matters with another penalty, but a purple patch saw Kidwelly stretch away again with a try by back row man Richard Hughes and a couple more penalties from Smiriglia. With the gap now 11, it left Whitland with a little bit too much to do in the closing stages, and, although they did manage to bag a bonus point with a converted try by Andrew Jenkins, it was not quite enough.
