Pembroke

Borough 2nds 0

Kilgetty 2nds 2

The game between Pembroke Borough Seconds and Kilgetty Seconds, at London Road, was always going to be a hard fought one and this was demonstrated from the off, with battling for the ball all over the pitch.

Both sides found themselves under pressure early on, with waves of attack from both Kilgetty and Pembroke Borough.

However, both defences held strong with keen defending by Kilgetty and Paul 'Tiny' Thomas sweeping up any loose balls along with make-shift goalkeeper Jake Woodhead clearing his lines numerous times.

The balance of the match seemed to have shifted halfway through the first half, with Kilgetty starting to get a real foothold in the game and displaying a more intense play style and illustrating a structured approach.

The valiant style of play carried on through until half-time and, despite striker Dafydd Bevan finding room time and time again, battling and coming close to scoring on several occasions, the game remained goalless.

After the break, with chances coming at either end, a goal was inevitable and, after a piercing move from Kilgetty, the ball was slotted away calmly past the Borough goalkeeper into the bottom left-hand corner by midfielder Morgan Slate, after a series of great opportunities went begging.

Kilgetty continued attacking and pushing intently up the pitch and eventually the pressure paid off when their striker was brought down just outside the box while clean through on goal, and a free-kick was awarded.

A looping and curling strike to the far lefthand post by club captain Richard Gwyther had the 'keeper beaten, putting Kilgetty two goals in front.

Regardless of being two-nil up and comfortably on top of the game, Kilgetty continued to pressurise the opposition, with defenders Steven Brenchley and William Griffin deciding to push up from time to time, which they had done throughout the game.

After a hard battled second half by both teams, the game finished with Kilgetty Seconds winning 2-0.
