With everyone in the locality gearing up for Ironman Wales, it was the Saundersfoot Triathlon that kicked off the sporting weekend with a bang!
Taking place just two days before Ironman Wales, the Saundersfoot Tri was held once again on the Friday, with the September 19 sporting event bringing an early taste of triathlon fever to the village.
Spectacular fireworks started the action, with the swimmers setting off from the main slipway onto Saundersfoot beach at 5pm.
From there, competitors went on to take on a scenic bike ride along the county’s winding roads, surrounded by spectacular coastal and countryside views, before finishing with a run through Coppet Hall and into the heart of the seaside village.
“Entries now open for 2026. Will we see you there?” they added.
Senedd Member for South Pembrokeshire and Carmarthen West, Samuel Kurtz posted: “Congratulations to all competitors, and to Activity Wales Events.”
County councillor for Saundersfoot’s south ward, Cllr Chris Williams said in the lead up to the event: “Over the years, the Saundersfoot Tri has grown into a firm favourite on the sporting calendar, a fantastic introduction to triathlon for newcomers and an exciting challenge for seasoned athletes alike.
“But it’s not just the race that makes the day so memorable. From morning to night, the village is alive with energy, locals and visitors line the streets, cheering every athlete, while independent hospitality venues spill out onto pavements with live music, food, and drink, adding to the electric atmosphere.
“Saundersfoot Tri is not only a thrilling sporting event but one of the most uplifting and community-spirited days in the village calendar,” he added.
