Carmarthen Athletic 17 pts. Narberth 25
After showing some promising signs in the closing stages of the first half, the Otters dominated possession and took control of this game to such an extent, that the only points scored by the Red and Blacks after the interval came from a converted penalty try.
At half-time, Athletic led 10-6, but Narberth would have scored more points had it not been for some indecisive handling of the ball.
Fullback Mike Sauro missed out on an early penalty opportunity, but the Red and Blacks put the first points on the board after 11 minutes with a well-taken try scored by centre Lewis Chance, converted by Mike Sauro. It came following a great defence-splitting run by centre Rhys Lewis.
Eight minutes later, Mike Sauro added a penalty, but two penalties by Narberth fly-half Stuart Morris, both scored in the last five minutes of the half, reduced the lead at an important time.
The Otters came out of the blocks quickly at the start of the second half, and after a good handling movement, lock Chris James went over in the left corner for an unconverted try.
Although the visitors were reduced to 14 men for 10 minutes with Chris James in the sin bin, the Red and Blacks failed to take advantage of the disparity in numbers.
Spectators could feel that the Otters were champing at the bit now and a terrific run up the right flank by 18-year-old winger Will Lewis, set up a try for the veteran in the team, Adrian Killa at scrum-half, who used his skill and experience to touch down for a try which was converted by Stuart Morris.
After 25 minutes, Killa scored again when Will Lewis broke through the defence to create the opportunity.
Number eight Steffan Phillips received the ball and, just when it looked as if he had a 50-50 chance of getting to the line, his cross-kick was greeted with glee by Adrian Killa, who scored his second try, which was also converted by Stuart Morris.
With five minutes of the match remaining, the Red and Blacks mounted a rare foray inside the Narberth 22 and were rewarded with a penalty try, which was converted by Mike Sauro.
What was the match verdict from both camps? Otters head coach Sean Gale said: "It was a very good win in difficult conditions. Carmarthen Athletic started really well and we were 10-3 down at one stage, but stuck at it, got back to 10-6 and took advantage of playing down the slope in the second half.
"We are trying to develop young players in Narberth this season and Will Lewis on the wing, who was 18 just two weeks ago, set up two of the tries scored in the second half.
"The great thing about Narberth at the moment is that the spirit within the squad is fantastic."
Carmarthen Athletic team manager Stuart Harris said: "There were no complaints about today. Narberth controlled the second half and the last 10 minutes of the first half.
"We started brightly and scored a nice try, but later Narberth got into the game and then dominated it.
"We lacked a kicking game and could not kick 50 or 60 yards downfield."
There were good performances for Narberth by prop Tom Slater in a dominant scrum and Chris James, Steffan Phillips together with flanker Wayne Williams, who also had excellent games in a good team effort.
For Carmarthen Athletic, behind the scrum, half-back Rhys Lane, together with both centres Rhys Lewis and Lewis Chance, all caused problems at times for the visiting team.
Narberth fielded: Jonathan Morgan, Will Lewis, Steve Martin (capt), Richard Davies, Adam Phillips, Stuart Morris, Adrian Killa, Sean Lloyd, Dan Smith, Tom Slater, Chris James, Alex Jenkins, Gareth Bateman, Steffan Phillips and Wayne Williams.
Replacements: Andrew Davies, Gareth Jones, Lewis Davies, Colin Davies and Aled Jones.
