Members of Tenby Aces were greeted with a rapturous welcome when they arrived back at the seaside town on Saturday, after a gruelling 250 mile ride from London, as part of a challenge to cycle from the iconic Marble Arch to Tenby’s historic Five Arches.

Aces President Gareth Rees said: “Nine of us left Marble Arch in London just after midnight with the mission of cycling the 250 miles to Tenby Five Arches in a day.

“Well we had plenty thrown at us from the heat of London, what seemed like thousands of red traffic lights, rough roads, cycle friendly motorists, mechanicals and torrential rain throughout Wales, but we made it!

“Everyone individually had to dig so deep but there’s no doubt in my mind that this was only made possible but our support crew!!

“Sarah Benbow, Beverley and Colin Barrett provided everything we needed when we needed it but also the support and encouragement during those dark times, you were simply amazing!

“Thanks also to - the Arch to Arches committee, especially David Poole, Huw Benbow and Nicky Logan for organising everything; Narberth Travel for the smooth transfer; The Clarence Hotel for the kind drinks donation; and to family and friends who met us along the way, cheered us into Pembrokeshire and at the Five Arches.

“What a welcome also from Tenby Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Sam Skyrme-Blackwell and to Toni and friend from our charity Paul Sartori. Thank you to every single person who has sponsored us!”

Well done to all Aces that took part in the ride.
