Wisemans Bridge Rowing Club recently held a fun rowing relay race from Coppet Hall beach.
The race was part of a fundraising day in memory of one of their much-loved rowers, Phil Langston, who sadly passed away last year.
The weather was kind and Coppet Hall beach was awash with the 15 celtic rowing boats and several sculls that came to support the event and pay homage to a great and very missed man.
Local crews attended as well as crews from afar afield as Clevedon, Barry and Abereon showing how much Phil meant to the rowing community.
It was, truly, a spectacular sight to see all the boats crossing the bay out to Monkstone Point and around the bay, a route they had to do twice!” said Sian Attwell from the Club.
“It was a hard 8-mile challenge with many rowers doing the whole route, while other crews changed at the half way stage.
“Phil loved fancy dress and all of the crews and many spectators fielded various outfits including pirates, dogs, Vikings and even jelly fish!
“On completion of the race crews headed over to Saundersfoot Sailing Club for a well-deserved meal and drink.”
All monies raised is funding an anti-poaching dog in Phil’s name through the organisation Dogs 4 Wildlife, a cause close to Phil and his family’s hearts.
“Wisemans Bridge Rowing Club would like to thank all their supporters on the day.
“Hean Castle for their help with the parking, Matt Mcdermot and Caroline Bridle from Tesco in Saundersfoot for their very kind food donations and support, and Jack from Dogs 4 Wildlife for helping on the day and for his very lovely speech,” added Sian.
