Work is near completion at St Brides Hotel, Saundersfoot, to create West Wales' first Destination Spa Hotel.

Work started on the multi-million pound project in October 2005 which will see a formerly traditional seaside hotel transformed into a luxury escape retreat. The building, located on the National Coastal Path, has been sympathetically converted to create exclusive facilities aimed at the spa connoisseur, smaller business groups, contemporary art enthusiasts and 'foodies' alike.

The sea view restaurant and terrace, perched on the cliff top, is due to be completed by May, followed by the unique Marine Therapy Spa late in the summer. The cliff edge spa will offer a salt grotto, adventure shower, ice fountain and vitality pool with infinity edge. The Algotherm treatments will be marine-based, reflecting the location.

This unique project is the idea of St. Brides owners, Andrew and Lindsey Evans. Working closely with a team of specialists. headed by Jane Goff. of Goff Associates, holder of two prestigious European design awards, they have created 35 individually styled luxury bedrooms, most with views of the harbour and Carmarthen Bay.

The ethos is not to offer a uniformed corporate environment, but instead a haven for guests to escape the stresses and strains of modern life. Genuine Welsh hospitality is unique and staff are encouraged to 'be themselves' and give guests a true sense of warm Welsh welcome. Guests often comment "it is more like going to stay with friends that live by the seaside, than staying in a hotel." Future plans at St. Brides are to provide six two- bedroom serviced apartments for long stay guests or those that prefer an independent base from which to explore the multiple attractions and coastline that Pembrokeshire offers.

The county has some of the most diverse scenery in Europe within an hour's radius of the hotel, with a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities, from links golf to coasteering. These options combined with state-of-the-art conference facilities at St. Brides attract many management away days and team building conferences.

Owners Andrew and Lindsey Evans believe that the combination of the stunning marine location and contemporary luxurious accommodation will appeal to a wide range of discerning clients, who will be captivated by what they are calling the 'St. Brides Experience'.
