Autumn is truly here and clouds are becoming regular visitors again, but sky-gazers of Great Britain have been catching glimpses of a rather unusual phenomenon - a Woolly Acoustic Cloud with the markings of the Union Flag making its way around the nation to celebrate British wool with the help of Woolly Shepherd customers such as The Peppercorn Restaurant in Narbeth.

Made in Somerset by The Woolly Shepherd Natural Acoustics Company, the cloud is used to absorb unwanted reverberation. The company have installed in schools, businesses, village halls and homes across the country since their appearance on BBC Country File back in 2012.

"Our customers are a special bunch of people," explains director Tim Simmons, "who enjoy the fun of the woolly clouds, but appreciate the serious nature of what they do so well. We wanted to include some of them in our Tour of Britain."

The tour was launched in a school in Taunton before heading up to Scotland and The Midlands before visiting Wales for a brief stop in the home of sheep! After this, it headed south right to the toe of Cornwall, before finishing near its home back in Somerset.

Along the way, each of the participants - including restaurants, village halls, businesses and schools - will take a photo of the cloud in their local environment to add to the story.

The Woolly Shepherd is an ethical wool business manufacturing acoustic products, and homewares such as boot liners, mobile 'phone covers and wine coolers from its waste stream.
