There was an unusual sight on Tenby’s Castle Beach on Saturday evening, as a Viking Ship burning ceremony took place - all for a worthy cause!
The team from St Catherine’s Island carried out the long awaited ceremony (postponed from December) raising a fantastic £1,000 for Wales Air Ambulance in the process.
The boat contained literally thousands of wishes, dreams and prayers from many visitors to the Island throughout 2022, who had donated to the chosen charity.
“We would like to say a massive thank you to all who attended,” said Andi Jones from the St Catherine’s team, also saying a big thank you to Tenby’s Mayor, Cllr Sam Skyrme-Blackhall for attending and photographer David Bolton.
“As we help a different charity each year, we are pleased to announce that our charity for this coming year is Sandy Bear - a wonderful cause that helps children with bereavement of all kinds,” they added.
Previously, money has been raised for the Pembrokeshire Hogspital and the RNLI.
