AS the title indicates, the next exhibition in the Small Gallery at Colby is an exploration of the colourful workings of the artist's mind - well, let's not get too introspective, and in this case it's not one, but two artists we have in mind. Mother and daughter, Anne Gregson and Jo Davies, of Little Wedlock Gallery, Gumfreston, open their joint exhibition on Bank Holiday Monday, August 28, for three weeks until September 17. Visitors, prepare to feast your eyes on a banquet of gourmet colour and design. (And also on some 'home grown' fruit and vegetables which, as a keen gardener, feature in many of Jo's compositions). Both Anne and Jo share a mutual love of the natural world around them with all its varied patterns, which is extant in their use of vibrant colours and their imaginative interpretation of a wide spectrum of natural subject matter. In addition to her gardening exploits, Jo draws inspiration from favourite walks around her home village of St. Florence - hence Tenby appears frequently, in the distance, viewed from a variety of standpoints. Anne's work, equally, arises from visual experiences which form the starting point for an adventure in which mysterious landscapes change and develop - altogether, a collection of work better seen than described. Whetted your appetite? Hope so. You will find the gallery in the converted stables above the tea rooms in the tranquil surroundings of the National Trust Woodland Gardens, open daily from 10 am to 5 pm. Please note: August Bank Holiday Monday may not be quite so tranquil, as the Splott Puppet Theatre will be entertaining younger visitors in the meadow, (two performances at 12-noon and 2.30 pm). The puppets have a special message to pass on to the future generation, so the more children turn up to hear it the better. There will be additional quizzes and activities provided for youngsters throughout the day, so why not join us for a perfect family day out? For further inquiries, please ring the gallery on 814200.
