PUPILS and students taking part in this year's Pembrokeshire Darwin Science Festival science project competition, Science Aglow, can expect a really wild time because guest presenter at the event will be TV celebrity Nick Baker.

Nick, who is a presenter on the BBC The Really Wild Show, is passionate about all wildlife and in particular creepy-crawlies. This is a man whose favourite animals are wasps and ants and whose favourite food is squid and chips!

The competition is being held at Pembrokeshire College on Thursday, April 10. It is open to pupils and students of all ages and registration closes on Friday, March 14. Entries must be either an investigative science project, on any aspect of science, or the preparation of a poster or model on an aspect of science.

Prizes and certificates are awarded for the winning entries and successful projects may also be entered for a CREST science award.

A trip to the internationally renowned Southampton Oceanography Centre is being offered as first prize for the seniors, and a cash prize of £500 is being offered to the winning junior team to purchase science equipment for their school. Every student taking part will receive a bag of 'goodies' and a certificate.
