Eight junior football clubs from West Wales are celebrating having achieved silver standard in the FAW/McDonald's Club Accreditation scheme.

Clarbeston Road, Kilgetty, and Tenby Junior FC's are among the eight to have joined just 19 other clubs in Wales to achieve the high rating in the scheme which helps clubs to deliver a quality assured football programme for youngsters.

The club accreditation scheme, sponsored by McDonald's, forms part of the Welsh Football Trust's ongoing work to improve opportunities for young people to get involved in football and to enhance how the game is delivered nationally.

The scheme, which is mandatory in Wales, applies to clubs providing football between the ages of seven and 16, and sets out standards of good practice which football clubs aim to achieve and even surpass in order to compete in junior leagues.

This includes a basic framework for club administration, qualifications for managers and coaches along with appropriate CRB and eligibility checks.
